It’s been a few weeks since I updated this page…sorry, I’ve been more worried about keeping my job than tracking my work. I shot this today outside of Hastings. Just thought it was pretty neat/random to see a old broken piano out on a strip mall sidewalk. I took this with my phone, came out pretty well I think.

This is a photo of one of my favorite guitarists today, Chris Michetti. Chris used to play in a band called “RAQ” that I got see often. A four-piece band from Vermont, the often went under the radar to the other popular four-piece from Vermont. However, they stood their ground and I got the opportunity to see them for New Years Eve a couple of years ago as well as several times in Murfreesboro and Nashville. This picture above was taken at the Exit/In, a favorite local venue of mine. I got quite a few great shots of Michetti as well as the rest of the band this evening, plus it was a great show taboot! To me this shot represents the intensity of his playing. He’s got a new project in the works, you can take a listen here.

News broke last week that Rothbury will be making it’s return to Michigan this summer. It was a fantastic event last year, I hope I can make the return trek. This picture is one of the last I took at the festival before returning home to Tennessee. It’s a crowd shot at the Mike Gordon set where Trey made a not-so-surprise appearance as well as John Fishman watching on in the background.

Umphrey’s McGee’s new disc Live at the Murat was released this week, but a month prior, they made a trip to Cincinnati for a two-night stand at a different theater.  They had previously played Bogart’s the last few visits to Cincinnati, so graduating to the Taft Theatre was a big deal, and to celebrate, the evening consisted of many musical ‘sandwiches.’  From “Plunger > Passing > Plunger,” to “Der Bluten Kate > Ocean Billy > Der Bluten Kate,” the show was filled with seamless rock from Umphreys. A highlight of the evening was the very dance-worthy ending of “JaJunk > Wife Soup > JaJunk.” The lyrical “Jimmy Stewart” in “Great American” also stands out, as it was the third lyrical version of the commonly instrumental jam in just as many days. Perhaps the most surprising song of the evening was a first time cover of Lionel Richie/The Commodores “Easy” with Nick Blasky of Ray’s Music Exchange. All in all, a great evening and a great way to get the audience ready for their then forth-coming live disc.

Set I: Professor Wormbog, Plunger > Passing > Plunger, JaJunk > Wife Soup > JaJunk, Great American > “Jimmy Stewart” > Great American, Black Water
Set II: Der Bluten Kat > Ocean Billy > Der Bluten Kat, Easy, Miss Tinkle’s Overture, Hangover, Got Your Milk (Right Here)
Encore: The Bottom Half > Last Train Home > The Bottom Half
